Q: How long does it take to learn to swim?

A: This very much depends on the individual and how they react and respond to instructions. Emphasis is placed on an individual gaining confidence with placing their face in the water.

Q: Are teachers in the water?

A: Yes. This is particularly so with the beginner levels for both children and adult groups. Sometimes instructors will give demonstrations in the water for improvers and adult beginner/improver groups.

Top

Q: How many in a swimming class?

A: Beginner groups have a maximum of 8 - 10 depending on the venue and size of swimming pool. Numbers increase through the levels up to Swimming Club where there would be a maximum of 12 - 14 per session.

Q: Where are the lessons held?

A: At a number of locations in West Kent, Surrey and South-East London.

Top

Q: How long is a swimming lesson?

A: Lessons are based on 30-minute time slots. Some of the Swimming Club sessions and adult groups operate on a 45-minute basis.

Top

Q: How many weeks in a term?

A: This varies throughout the year but normally up to 10 weeks (Spring, Summer and Autumn terms).

Top

Q: How is payment made for swimming lessons?

A: Payments are sent by cheque payable to 'Aqua Swimming Ltd'. This is sent with the completed application form before the start of each course.

Top

Q: My child has grommets. Can they go swimming?

A: Some doctors may advise against swimming if your child has had an operation to insert grommets, but using an appropriate ear plug can reduce the chance of water getting into the ears and causing an infection. It is advisable to talk to your family doctor, child’s audiologist or specialist Ear Nose & Throat doctor first.
